Medal display cases for ribbon medals in solid wood and Italian velvet, handmade in our workshop in Italy: single-medal cases, boxes for 2 to 10 medals, wall-mount frames and LED-lit display cabinets for up to 21 medals. Suitable for military decorations, civilian honours and sporting awards, whether kept in a drawer or put on display.
How many spaces do you need
The first thing to consider is the number of medals; the second is how you want to store or show them: closed in a box, hung on the wall, or in a display case.
| Option | Capacity | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Single-medal display case with glazed window | 1 medal | An important decoration or a gift; also available with the Italian Republic coat of arms |
| Case with glass lid | 2 medals | A pair of decorations; one model features toughened glass |
| Box 25×15 cm with 3 mm glass | 3 or 4 medals | One person's decorations, kept on a shelf |
| Box with 4 compartments, 80×80 or 87×87 mm | 4 medals | Large-diameter medals |
| Customisable compartment box | 10 medals | An entire collection in a single box |
| LED-lit display case with 3 mm glass | 21 medals | A permanent display at home or in an office |
| MED-line frames | Depends on the model | Wall mounting or table-top display |
Wall-mounted, table-top or illuminated medal display cases
The MED frames have a removable padded velvet panel and can be used both on the wall and on a desk; the MED-M measures 26×21 cm. The wood-and-glass display boxes, such as the 24×19 cm model, hold medals as well as postcards and banknotes. For a multi-piece display there is the LED-lit case, designed for permanent exhibition.
Materials and finishes
- Solid wood in tulipwood and birch; some boxes are in solid mahogany.
- Italian velvet in several colours, including blue, red, green and teal: the colour can be chosen on many models.
- Glass at 3 mm on many boxes and cases, toughened glass on some models.
- Every piece is individually numbered and comes with a certificate of authenticity; several models are crafted without solvents or chemical products.
How to choose the right size
Measure your medal including the ribbon — height, width and thickness at the highest point — then compare those figures with the compartment dimensions listed on the product page. For large medals or medals without a ribbon, look at the boxes with 80×80 or 87×87 mm compartments. The velvet holds the ribbon flat and in position.
For tips on keeping the metal in good condition over time, read Humidity and collections: how to protect coins and paper. If you also collect coins, take a look at our boxes for coins up to 50 mm and boxes for large-diameter coins over 50 mm.
Frequently asked questions
How many medals fit in a military medal box or case?
It depends on the model: there are cases for 1 medal, boxes for 2, 3, 4 and 10 medals, and LED-lit display cases for 21 medals. The number of spaces is shown in the product name and on each product page.
Can they be hung on the wall?
Yes, the MED-line frames can be hung on the wall or stood on a table. They have a removable padded velvet panel.
Can I choose the velvet colour?
On many models, yes: the Italian velvet is available in several colours. The available options are listed on the product page.
Are they suitable for large medals or medals without a ribbon?
For large-diameter medals there are 4-compartment boxes with 80×80 mm and 87×87 mm slots. Measure your medal and compare it with the compartment size before ordering.
How should medals be stored over time?
Keep them in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and handle them by the edges to avoid leaving fingerprints on the metal. The glass helps keep dust off.
