MasterPhil Ambasador Large-Format Binder Cover – Empty, 42.5 × 53 cm

The MasterPhil Ambasador binder cover is the ideal starting point for collectors who need a binder for newspapers, magazines, posters, decrees, and other large-format documents. Choose it alongside the transparent pages and slipcase, purchasing each separately to suit your exact requirements.

❓ How to store collectible newspapers and posters

How do I stop old newspapers and magazines from yellowing?

Yellowing is caused mainly by exposure to light, humidity, and air. A good first step is to place newspapers in transparent pockets that limit direct contact with the surrounding environment — such as the pockets found in Ambasador pages, made from plasticiser-free K211 material — housed inside a binder such as the Ambasador. Keeping the binder away from direct light sources and in a dry environment will help slow deterioration considerably.

How should I store posters, large prints, and large-format documents?

Posters and large prints are most vulnerable to creases and surface abrasion. The most practical solution is to slip them flat into transparent pockets of the appropriate size: Ambasador pages, used with the Ambasador binder cover (42.5 × 53 cm), accommodate large-format documents without folding them. Always handle items with clean hands — ideally wearing cotton gloves — before placing them in the pockets.

Is it better to fold or keep collectible newspapers flat?

For newspapers you want to preserve in good condition, keeping them flat is always preferable to folding. Repeated folding creates permanent crease marks over time and can cause tearing along the fold lines. A binder with full-pocket pages in the Ambasador format lets you store open sheets and newspapers neatly and accessibly, with no additional folding required.

Where is the best place to keep a collection of historical newspapers or official documents?

The ideal location is somewhere dry, at a stable temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. The Ambasador binder, completed with its coated-board slipcase (item 285/C, sold separately), provides an additional layer of physical protection during storage and transport. Storing the binder upright and well supported helps prevent distortion over time.

✨ Ambasador Empty Binder Cover – the foundation of your large-format binder

MasterPhil’s Ambasador range is designed for collectors who work with material that is out of the ordinary in terms of size: vintage newspapers, illustrated magazines, decrees, film and theatre posters, large prints, and similar documents that simply will not fit in a standard binder. The Ambasador binder cover (art. 285) is the core component: the rigid black plastic structure that holds the transparent pages and gives the whole binder its form.

This item contains the binder cover only. To complete the binder you will need to choose transparent pages — available as single-pocket (art. 285/B1, pack of 5) or two-pocket (art. 285/B2, pack of 5) — and, if you would like extra protection during storage or transport, the Ambasador slipcase (art. 285/C) in black coated board, also sold separately.

Building the binder piece by piece lets you select precisely how many pages you need and which type, without paying for surplus materials. It is a practical choice both for those starting a new collection and for those looking to expand an existing Ambasador binder by adding a second volume.

❓ Questions about this product

What is included with this item?

This item contains only the Ambasador binder cover (art. 285) in black plastic. No transparent pages or slipcase are included. To build the complete binder you will need to purchase the Ambasador pages (art. 285/B1 or 285/B2) and, if required, the Ambasador slipcase (art. 285/C) separately.

Which pages are compatible with this binder cover?

The Ambasador binder cover is designed to be used with the transparent pages from the same MasterPhil range: single-pocket pages (art. 285/B1) for full-size documents, and two-pocket pages (art. 285/B2) for those who prefer to store two items per page. Both are sold in packs of 5. The pockets on Ambasador pages open at the top and are made from plasticiser-free K211 material.

Can I use this binder cover without the slipcase?

Yes, the Ambasador binder cover works perfectly well on its own, without the slipcase. The slipcase (art. 285/C), made from black coated board, is a separate accessory that adds physical protection during storage and when moving the binder. If your collection stays in one stable location, you can always add the slipcase at a later stage.
